Freestanding vs integrated cooling appliances
The main difference between a freestanding appliance and an integrated (built-in) one is the aesthetic. Freestanding fridges offer more flexibility, as can be easily moved, and often act as the focal point in a kitchen’s design as they shine with their individual design.
Integrated appliances are installed into the kitchen housing to create a sleek, modern look.

Fridge and freezer sizes
While size selection largely depends on your available space, it is important to make sure your fridge has enough capacity for your household. A good rule of thumb for calculating the capacity is to start with 100 litres for yourself and add 50 litres for every additional person in your home.
- One-person household: 100-litre capacity
- Two-person household: 150-litre capacity
- Three-person household: 200-litre capacity
Siemens fridges and freezers are available in various different heights to exactly match your individual needs. The range starts from 72 cm height and reaches up to 212 cm high cooling appliances. The standard width is 60 cm but selected extra wide and narrow cooling appliances are available.
Energy efficiency
The energy efficiency of Siemens appliances plays a vital role in supporting sustainable lifestyle choices. Our latest cooling appliances use up to 75% less energy in comparison to a similar appliance from 2001 (per 100 l net capacity in 24 h). While older appliances used up to 200 kilowatt-hours (kWh), a newer Siemens fridge-freezer with a high rating on the energy label uses only roughly 50 kWh per year per 100 litre net capacity.
